Poshmark is seeking an intern who is excited about the challenge of building and scaling systems as we rapidly iterate on our product. You will join the core infrastructure team to help build the backend of the Poshmark Cloud Platform, an infrastructure that spans hundreds of machines on AWS. You will have the opportunity to push the limits of cloud based technologies to power our explosive growth.

What You’ll Do:

While familiarity with our stack is a plus, we care more about hiring people that can learn new technologies, and adapt quickly. Over the next 10+ weeks, you can expect to get involved in the following:

  • Build scalable, service-oriented infrastructure on AWS using the latest open source tools and technologies
  • Design and improve architecture in order to ensure horizontal scalability at all layers
  • Implement APIs and services for use by other developers
  • Resolve issues related to performance at all tiers of the application
  • Protect user accounts and data by implementing security best practices
  • Develop best practices and tools to enable robust delivery of features

Experience relevant to Poshmark:

  • Pursuing a CS degree (or related field)
  • Strong academic competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Aptitude for JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Rails, Java, Django, MongoDB, Go –we use a variety of programming languages and tools
  • Exposure to HTTP protocol, SSL, and REST API’s.
  • Familiarity with working in Linux/Unix environments
  • A curious nature with a desire to tackle and solve complex problems
  • Non-academic coding experience (i.e. hack-a-thons, code challenges, personal projects, GitHub, Open Source, volunteer coding experience, conference participation, Grace Hopper, etc.)

Things that catch our eye:

  • Experience with development in a high traffic, highly scaled environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with any Cloud solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with: Tomcat, Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Git, Terminal
