Data Scientist, Ads Quality

We’re looking for a data scientist to help the Data Science team with their goal of surfacing high quality ads that help Pinners discover and do what they love. You’ll apply quantitative analysis, modeling and data mining to improve the quality and relevance of ads on Pinterest.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform deep dive analyses to understand and optimize the key levers of our ads ecosystems
  • Share findings and recommendations with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Design core metrics that serve as the North Stars for team efforts and model trade off decisions across product areas
  • Apply statistics, modeling and machine learning (ML) to improve the efficiency of systems and relevance algorithms for ads on Pinterest
  • Work with product managers and engineers to design data products, prove their value by running experiments and release into production

What we’re looking for:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field with 3+ years of industry experience in a quantitative field with proven track record of applying scientific methods to solve real-world problems using big data
  • Self-propelled continuous learner who keeps up with new tools and ML methodologies by taking online classes, attending conferences, reviewing papers and getting his/her hands dirty
  • Expert in Python (or R) and proficient in SQL/Hive
  • Knowledgeable about best practices around data manipulation, feature engineering, model selection, model productionalization and model evaluation
  • Ability to lead initiatives across multiple product areas and communicate findings with leadership and product teams
