A look inside the job:

  • Continuously strive for the betterment of engineering at Datto
  • Work with Datto engineers to identify workflow pain points and develop their solutions
  • Engineer continuous delivery pipelines that are stable, maintainable, scalable, and secure
  • Be the bridge between software and systems engineering
  • Identify trends in need of a larger solution, beyond the scope of the immediate problem
  • Design and champion best practices within the organization
  • Solve complex and challenging issues with simple, maintainable, and scalable solutions
  • Utilize Open Source solutions where appropriate to stand on the shoulders of giants

About You:

  • 7+ Years experience with Linux administration in, Ubuntu preferred
  • 5+ years programming experience in one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Perl, PHP, or Java
  • Experience with scripting and systems automation (bash, python, etc.)
  • Experience with GitLab desirable, or a strong willingness to learn
  • Experience with configuration management tools; Puppet preferred, but Ansible/Chef/Salt acceptable
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills—documentation skills mandatory
  • Good diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution skills
  • The desire and ability to see a problem through to a complete solution
  • Able to quickly acquire new skills and thrive in a team-based environment
  • Ability to leave attitude at the door, be receptive to new ideas and be able to switch projects at the drop of a hat
  • A professional and courteous attitude
  • Able to effectively manage time and push multiple projects at once
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Off hours/on-call support required
